Description
The Rigi South Side Safari is an exciting day trip that combines an easy panoramic hike with a variety of modes of transportation. The mix of cogwheel train, aerial cable car, bus, boat, and a family-friendly hike makes this circular tour a favorite outing for families.

Easy and scenic panoramic hike between Rigi Kaltbad and Rigi Scheidegg – stroller-friendly

Services included in the ticket:
Cogwheel train: Vitznau – Rigi Kaltbad
Aerial cable car: Rigi Burggeist – Gschwend
Mountain bus (No. 535): Gschwend – Gersau
Boat or bus: Gersau – Vitznau (boat service available again starting spring schedule 2026)
Route:
Cogwheel railway from Vitznau to Rigi Kaltbad (departure at xx:18, or xx:15 from May 23, 2026)
Hike along the Panorama Trail to Rigi Scheidegg (7 km)
Rigi Burggeist cable car and trip to Gschwend
Bus trip down to Gersau (from Obergschwend at 09:07, 10:07, 4:07 p.m., 5:07 p.m. – additional trips possible depending on the season)
Boat trip across Lake Lucerne (xx:14 p.m.) or bus back to Vitznau (boat trips available again from the 2026 spring timetable)
Good to know:
Dogs travel free of charge on Rigi Railways; for boat/bus travel, the SBB dog pass applies. Dogs up to 30 cm (12 in) in suitable carriers travel free of charge.
Parking spaces are available (fees apply).
Children travel free when accompanied by an adult with the SBB Junior Card.
